Research
We explore the applied design possibilities of biomaterials and smart construction methods, developing sustainable, circular-economy, and carbon-neutral solutions for the built environment.
Approach
Biology and construction, in conversation
The BioDesign Research Group works across biofabrication, natural science, computational design, automated fabrication tools, and artificial intelligence.
Its core motivation is to explore alternatives to the energy waste and carbon impact of industrial products, especially products that are non-renewable, single-use, and disposable.
